Minimum KCSE Entry Requirements
Diploma in Nursing: KCSE mean grade C+ with C+ in English/Kiswahili, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics/Physics. Certificate in Community Health Nursing: KCSE C (plain). Verified KCSE certificates come from KNEC — see knec.co.ke.
Course Duration and Structure
Three and a half years for the diploma — two years of theory and clinicals, eighteen months of internship. Specialisations open after diploma: midwifery, critical care, oncology, mental health.
Fees and Bursaries
Government-sponsored slot fees are roughly KES 67,000 per year. HELB loans and county bursaries are available. Apply through KUCCPS for placement.
Career Path and Salary
Entry-level Registered Nurse: KES 35,000–45,000. Senior Nursing Officer: KES 95,000+. Specialised cadres (theatre, ICU) earn premium allowances.
